Chesterfield College recently saw its flagship sports hall and new entrance block,"The Heart Space" completed after months of work and investment and it welcomed Olympic Gold Medallist, Jessica Ennis to open the new facility - wth the sports hall being renamed in her honour.
As thousands, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield and the Duke of Devonshire, crowded around the building on Infirmary Road to watch Jessica and Principal Trevor Clay unveil a plaque commemorating the event, Jessica spoke of her pride in her achievements and her commitment to helping other young people follow in her footsteps.
Trevor Clay admitted it was a great day for the college and the town and pail tribute to all who have made the project, part funded by the Skills funding Agency, possible.
