Francisco heard about Employ Me on a TV advert and was interested in finding out more. "I had worked as an electrician but is now unemployed. I wanted to get back into education to re-train because there wasn't enough work for electricians. I enrolled onto the IT software class at Armagh Campus, this was totally new to me".
He was nervous at the start of the programme and was worried that he wouldn't be able to keep up with the rest of the class. "I should not have worried, the classes are so well delivered and I had no problems because the tutors are very supportive and encourage you to keep going."
Francisco completed his work placement at Website NI in Benburb. "This was a completely new environment and it was good to get experience in the industry. It was a fantastic placement for me because they understood that I was a beginner and the staff were very helpful, as I was very keen to learn."
Manager Daithi Conlon was very positive about Francisco's placement. "I wanted to give someone an opportunity to gain some experience and help them learn. Francisco has a very good attitude to work and always asked a lot of questions. Employ Me is very positive and I would recommend that other companies consider taking on a student."
Francisco says he is more positive about the future and wishes to continue in this industry. He is thinking about completing more courses at SRC. "It is very rewarding to learn something new and Employ Me is a great opportunity for anyone who is out of work or wants to re-train. It is very well supported and very well administered. I am just sorry it is over, it's brilliant!"
